Evaluation Process

All manuscripts submitted to Paradigma: Journal of Educational Research undergo a scientific evaluation through external double-blind peer review, ensuring the anonymity of both authors and reviewers throughout the evaluation process.

As part of its commitment to editorial transparency and Open Science practices, Paradigma: Journal of Educational Research will progressively implement Open Peer Review. In an initial phase, this option will be offered before the peer review process begins, once the manuscript has successfully passed the initial editorial screening and has been deemed suitable for external review. At that stage, the journal will request the informed consent of both authors and reviewers through an official communication sent to the email address registered in the OJS platform. If both parties agree, the manuscript will be evaluated under an open peer review model. Otherwise, the evaluation will proceed under the traditional double-blind review system. Participation in this modality will be entirely voluntary and will have no influence on the editorial decision.

The editorial process includes the following stages:

1. Submission and Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, the Editorial Team verifies that the manuscript includes all required documentation and complies with the Author Guidelines. This stage includes, among other aspects: compliance with the journal's editorial requirements; language and writing review; suitability for the journal's scope and focus; manuscript structure and presentation; originality verification using similarity detection software; y absence of plagiarism or self-plagiarism.

Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors for correction before external review or rejected if substantial deficiencies are identified.

2. External Peer Review

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial editorial screening are assigned to two external reviewers with recognized expertise in the subject area, research experience, and scientific publications. Reviewers provide a reasoned recommendation using the journal's evaluation form. Possible editorial recommendations are:

• Accept.

• Accept with minor or moderate revisions.

• Reconsider after major revisions.

• Reject.

If the reviewers' recommendations are conflicting or if one reviewer recommends rejection, the Editor may appoint a third reviewer, whose report will support the final editorial decision.

3. Review of the Revised Version

When revisions are requested, authors must submit a revised version of the manuscript within the deadline established by the journal. The Editorial Team will verify that the reviewers' comments have been appropriately addressed and, when necessary, may send the revised manuscript for an additional round of peer review.

4. Editorial Decision

The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript rests with the Editor, taking into account the reviewers' reports and the authors' responses to the requested revisions. The editorial decision will be officially communicated to the authors through the OJS platform.

5. Production and Publication

Accepted manuscripts enter the production stage, which includes copyediting, layout editing, and proofreading. Once this process has been completed, the article will be published in the next available issue of the journal. Authors may request an official letter of acceptance after the manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.

Estimated Editorial Timeline

Editorial timelines may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the time authors take to address reviewers' comments. Under normal circumstances, the estimated time from manuscript submission to the final editorial decision is approximately three months.

Estimated total editorial processing time: approximately 3 months from manuscript submission to the final editorial decision. Paradigma: Journal of Educational Research publishes two issues per year, in June and December. Consequently, accepted articles are scheduled for publication in the next available issue. The period between acceptance and publication will not exceed six months, depending on the date on which the editorial process is completed.
