Law, Equity, and Gender in Honduras: Where do we stand?
Keywords:
equity, equality, gender, Honduras, legislation, violenceAbstract
This essay is the result of a literature review of the legal documents regarding gender and equity in Honduras. It starts from the National Constitution and goes on to the II Equity and Equality of Gender Plan in the country. Equity is defined according to the Constitution, agreements, and declarations, as well as, from all the projects addressed in Honduras. All these efforts are senseless if the nation as such does not start with a clear and purposeful education early in the life of its population starting at home, going through the education system, and being reinforced by the society as a whole. In the end, this piece of writing closes up with some conclusions and makes some recommendations to improve all those areas where there is still a lot of work to do related to gender and equity in Honduras.
